If you follow me at all on social media, you know my biggest news of the past couple of weeks has to do with baby Maxwell in the making We are super excited, and a little bit terrified. Mainly excited. October still feels very far away for now, so I feel I have lots of time to dream and prepare. I drew that stork as a way to tell friends and family, and attached it to the black frame to really get the point across. I plan on framing the drawing (and it's filled in with watercolor) and hanging it in the nursery, of course. And I figure the design itself would make a nice card for baby showers, birth announcements, and other baby-related excitements. Here's an interior and exterior view. Baby looks cozy, I think. It's all pretty surreal and awesome. In other art-making news, I spur-of-the-moment decided to join in on the 100 Day Challenge that started on Tuesday. I saw an artist I follow on Instagram announce she was going to create a different hand-lettering design every day for the next 100 days (starting this past Tuesday). Apparently it's something of a movement. One of the pioneers is Elle Luna; this is what she posted to explain it. So I've chosen. I've created three so far. Still have to draw one today. It's a fun challenge-- drawing everyday and quickly. I'll still be working on bigger projects; my pattern challenge pieces will just be good warm-ups, or something to do when I don't have time for anything else. So stay tuned for more of those! And while you're waiting, you should color some flowers.
