I love how the forested hills and mountains of the Pacific Northwest look from a distance--layers of trees in different values.* I looked through some of the hundreds of pictures I've taken since we've moved here to try to show you what I mean. Kinda like this. And this. And kind of like this. I tried to capture that a bit in my latest drawing. It started as just a sketchbook doodle, but now I really like it. I used sharpie pens. They come in such pretty colors. This design is now available on Boom Boom Prints--so you can get something for yourself or a baby you know (and they ALWAYS have free shipping). When I went to the Boom Boom Prints website just now I noticed my "Woven" drawing was featured on their homepage. Weee! *"Value" is a fancy art term that means the lightness or darkness of a color. Like baby blue is a light value of blue.

Great concept. It is always good to have a story to go along with your artwork. Beautiful photos. I love teaching about atmospheric perspective as well.
