The Sun and the hills

I love how the forested hills and mountains of the Pacific Northwest look from a distance--layers of trees in different values.*  I looked through some of the hundreds of pictures I've taken since we've moved here to try to show you what I mean.  Kinda like this.

I tried to capture that a bit in my latest drawing.  It started as just a sketchbook doodle, but now I really like it.

I used sharpie pens.  They come in such pretty colors.

*"Value" is a fancy art term that means the lightness or darkness of a color.  Like baby blue is a light value of blue.
